Accessibility Statement

Last updated

This statement covers both parts of accessibility that matter to us: how usable this website is, and how we make a journey work for passengers with access requirements.

These policies are published in good faith and describe how Executive Chauffeurs UK works in practice. They are reviewed annually and reissued sooner where our operation or the law changes; the date at the head of each page shows when the current version was issued. If anything here is unclear, or you need a detail that is not published, our client service desk will answer on WhatsApp at +44 7775 554848 or through the contact page.

1. Our commitment

We want every passenger to be able to arrange and take a journey with us without difficulty, and every visitor to be able to use this website whatever technology they rely on. Accessibility is treated as part of the service, not as an adjustment made afterwards.

Our duties under the Equality Act 2010 include making reasonable adjustments for disabled people. This statement sets out how we approach that, what we know is not yet right, and how to tell us when something needs to change.

2. Website accessibility

This site is designed and built with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA as the target. That informs colour contrast, text sizing, focus indication, keyboard operation, heading structure and the labelling of forms and links.

The site is intended to work with a keyboard alone, to reflow without loss of content at 400 per cent zoom and on small screens, and to be readable by common screen readers. Text is used in preference to images of text, and links are written so that their destination is clear out of context.

We test with keyboard navigation and automated checking as part of our normal release process. Automated tools catch only a proportion of accessibility problems, so we also rely on feedback from the people using the site.

3. Known limitations

We do not claim full conformance. Areas we are reviewing include the labelling of some complex form controls in the journey planner, focus management when panels open and close, and the descriptive quality of alternative text on decorative and photographic images.

Any third-party content embedded in future, such as a mapping component, may not meet the same standard. Where that happens we will provide the same information in an accessible form elsewhere on the page.

If you meet a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us. We will describe it accurately in this statement while we work on it, rather than remove it from view.

4. Accessible travel

Access requirements are recorded at the time of booking and passed to the chauffeur with the journey details. Tell us what you need and we will tell you plainly whether we can meet it, rather than promise and adjust on the day.

Our chauffeurs will assist with luggage, offer an arm to and from the vehicle where that is wanted, and adjust seating, climate and route where that helps. Nobody will be handled or lifted, because that is neither safe nor appropriate without specialist training and equipment.

Where a passenger requires a wheelchair accessible vehicle, we will say so honestly when the vehicle class we operate cannot meet the requirement, and we will help identify a licensed operator who can.

5. Wheelchairs, mobility aids and assistance dogs

Folding wheelchairs, walking frames and other mobility aids are carried as standard, and the space they need is factored into the vehicle class we allocate. Please tell us the type and folded dimensions when you book so that the right vehicle is sent.

Assistance dogs are carried at no additional charge and are welcome in every vehicle. Refusing to carry an assistance dog is unlawful under the Equality Act 2010, and any chauffeur holding a medical exemption certificate must display it and notify the desk in advance so that another vehicle is allocated.

Where a passenger travels with a personal assistant or a companion, we will plan the seating so that they can sit together, and there is no additional charge for the assistance itself.

6. Telling us what you need

  • The pickup point that works best for you, including a specific door, bay or terminal meeting point.
  • Whether you need the chauffeur to meet you inside a building rather than at the kerb.
  • Mobility aids travelling with you and their folded size.
  • An assistance dog, so that we can allocate an appropriate vehicle.
  • Any preference about seating position, climate, lighting, music or conversation.
  • A quieter route or a shorter journey where that matters more than speed.

7. Feedback and enforcement

Accessibility feedback about the website or a journey can be sent through the contact page or on WhatsApp at +44 7775 554848. Please tell us the page or the journey reference and what happened, and we will respond within five working days.

If you need information from this site in another format, ask and we will provide it. If you are not satisfied with our response, our Complaints Procedure sets out the next stage, and the Equality Advisory and Support Service can give independent advice on rights under the Equality Act 2010.

This statement is reviewed at least annually and whenever the site changes materially. The date at the head of the page shows the current version.
